Tobias transitions to homeschooling

I can't get over how much happier Tobias seems to be homeschooling. He is motivated, and he feels good about getting all of his school work done. Last year, he used to moan and groan whenever I would suggest that he and I read together. I think he was tired from school, and he was constantly playing over and over in his head how far behind he was from his fellow classmates. Now, reading together is the first thing he wants to do out of his list of school work items to accomplish, so obviously, his reading is improving.

I asked his teacher at CCI how he was doing in class. She said he was doing great and that he seems to know e-ver-y-thing. I said, "Well, I hope he is not talking too much." She said, "No, but there are times when I have to say, 'Let's hear from someone other than Tobias because we know he knows the answer.' "

Tobias also started Taekwondo this year and piano lessons!

Overall, Tobias seems more settled and stabled with this new flexibility/activities in his life. I feel with every fiber of my being that homeschooling Tobias this year was completely the right decision. I feel very thankful that we have the option to do this with him.

  1. Ha ha ha! Tobias is so funny. You know, he has such an earnest way about him -- I think even when he delivered his "zinger" he probably came off completely straightforward and honest! He has a way of correcting adults that isn't disrespectful, but just really serious and concerned for accuracy. I think he's just great, and I really enjoy having him in Sunday School!
